Chapel Window Descriptions
Read early accounts* of the chapel windows by Rev, Professor Carnegie Simpson, D.D., and reflect with our current academic staff on their depiction of biblical narratives and associated scriptural passages.
The windows are the work of Douglas Strachan Hon. RSA who is considered by many as the most significant Scottish designer of stained glass windows in the 20th century.
Each window corresponds to one or more stanzas from the Benedicite (literally ‘bless!’), with the verses integrated into the window’s design. To support reflection, the corresponding stanza is also written above each image below. The Benedicite is drawn from the biblical texts of Daniel 3:56, 57–88, and Psalm 148.
